We’ve heard all of this before because that’s what Far Cry 3 did. Either that, or it’s all the guns he carries.įar Cry has always been an elaborate house of cards. His dad helped spark the revolution, you see, and expat Ajay’s return home is apparently enough to make him a significant player in local politics. He speaks and he has a history that you can read about on a Wiki, but character development is purely a product of the player’s actions: The choices you make determine not just who Ajay is, but how the revolution he’s the agent of plays out as well. The writing team played it safe, establishing Ajay as a blank slate. Ajay is clearly Americanized, but at least it’s not some whiny, out-of-his-element fratboy saving the locals with blockbuster ‘Murican sensibilities. He’s also a Kyrati expat, which makes the game’s throughline of replacing the local dictator with a traditionalist revolutionary faction more palatable.
Protagonist Ajay Ghale’s bro factor has been dialed down significantly from Far Cry 3 hero Jason Brody. The concussion-inducing script includes folks like Pagan Min, a villain so big he seems to fill the entire game even though he’s only on screen for all of 10 minutes or Amita and Sabal, dueling leaders who would rather kill each other than find ways to compromise on ridiculous, indefensible notions, like marrying off little girls or re-building the nation around a drug trade.Įven so, Far Cry 4 is at least more politically correct than the bro-saves-the-natives “fantasy” that made Far Cry 3 a tonal mess. Fitbit Versa 3įar Cry 4’s is a story filled with morons and monsters. Players are also able to call in friends and play multiplayer to help with the abundance of missions and rescue operations that are packed into the game, leaving no room for boredom. While Ajay’s character is a work of art himself (a newfound warrior and leader), the art of the landscape portrays untouched terrain and an abundance of mountains and lush scenery that takes the player into a dangerous paradise. With multiple endings and life changing decisions, it is up to the gamer on how Ajay will succeed. The landscape is set up as open world gameplay with emphasized smooth parallelization to the storyline. Highlighting great action packed game development, Ajay scales cliffs, flies using a gyrocopter, and shoots bazookas off of the backs of elephants. Savages and exotic beasts play a crucial part in completing missions of liberation as Ajay hunts and fights for his life and those of many others. He ventures out into the wilderness of the Himalayas where the fictional country of Kyrat stands. A noble deed interrupted by a bus-stop gone awry leading Ajay to discover his origins. You are Ajay Ghale, an American venturing out to return to your homeland of Kyrat to fulfill your mother’s dying wish of spreading her ashes. So what makes this action adventure game so worthwhile?
